Apex Legends Leaks Reveal How The Long-Awaited Gift System Will Work In The 14,1 Update

Unfortunately, since the beginning of the game, players of Apex Legends have been unable to gift things to outfit their squad.

A giving option is reportedly coming in Season 15 – and there are even details about how it’ll operate. This answers players’ long-standing requests.

With the gifting mechanism, Apex Legends will imitate Fortnite.

Players’ requests appear to have been heard by developers Respawn Entertainment, as leaker KralRindo has discovered further information on a gifting feature included in the 14.1 update. KralRindo described the currently accessible function on social media and said that the “14.1 version” included “new gifting strings.”

The leaker made note of a specific lines of code such as:

  • “GIFT_INFO_FRIEND_TITLE”
  • “GIFT_INFO_PLAYER_TITLE”
  • “GIFT_INFO_EXTRA_TITLE”
  • “GIFT_INFO_CONTACT”

KralRindo added that “we got a new UI icon, seems like it’s actually just buying item(s) for someone rather than trade” in addition to this revelation.

The new function seems to operate similarly to Fortnite from Epic Games, where users may opt to give skin packs to anyone on their friends list.

Although it’s been observed that leakers have speculated Season 15 will bring gifting to the game, the creators haven’t yet publicly confirmed when it will.

Similar to this, there hasn’t been any discussion of a trading function for Apex Legends, which would be an alternative to simply giving other players your recently acquired stuff.

The lines of code visible seem to be similar to Fortnite’s giving feature, which allows players to send gifts to anyone on their friends list.

Following this leak, players have debated whether this system suggests that giving items from one’s inventory is conceivable or whether it also suggests that trading with other players is possible.
