How did the two sides come to an agreement over transfer of Anthony Gordon?
David Ornstein has revealed that the concession that allowed the transaction to go through is that Newcastle United will pay the full initial ยฃ40m transfer fee all at once with addons which could see the value rise to 45 million pounds for the long term deal. Instead of the preferred procedure, which involves paying a large portion of the transfer charge in instalments down the road in order to ease FFP difficulties, we will be paying the entire amount up front.

Considering Everton’s dire financial situation and the fact that their new manager, Sean Dyche, would likely want to make at least a couple of players, having the whole ยฃ40 million up front will offer them some breathing room.
Single payment for Anthony Gordon’s transfer
The upfront payment of ยฃ40 million is worth substantially more to Everton than a much larger sum that would have been paid out over time.ย We now know that conversations between the two clubs took place on Tuesday, which explains Anthony Gordon’s ‘scheduled absence’ from training on that day.
