Lawsuit by Ania Palus against Nick Kyrgios and Why she filed it?
Ania Palus was watching the final with her mother when the 27-year-old Australian became irate at her for ostensibly starting to speak as he prepared to serve. Kyrgios urged the referee to eject her from Center Court and as a result, Palus was evicted from the stadium. After her eviction, she was given permission to return after drinking some water and waiting for 15 minutes. Later on, she claimed to have merely sipped on a Pimms and a glass of Rose.
Nick Kyrgios is currently being sued by a lady who he claimed was intoxicated and distracted him at the Wimbledon final in July. The lady claimed that after Kyrgios’s complaint, she was taken away from the court for only 15 minutes but her reputation took a severe hit as the whole world reacted to the news by labelling her as a stupid drunk.
During her latest statement, Ania Palus said that:
Not only did this cause considerable harm on the day, resulting in my temporary removal from the arena, but Mr Kyrgios’ false allegation was broadcast to, and read by, millions around the world, causing me and my family very substantial damage and distress. I am not litigious, but after much consideration, I have concluded that that I have no alternative but to instruct my solicitors Brett Wilson LLP to bring defamation proceedings against Mr Kyrgios in order to clear my name.”
Lawsuit History against Nick Kyrgios and Domestic Violence Allegations
Kyrgios is juggling a number of legal matters in addition to Palus’ lawsuit. In Australia, Kyrgios is accused of assault after complaints from his ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari. At a hearing on Monday, Kyrgios’ attorney requested a three-month delay of the case, but the judge rejected the request. Hence, Kyrgios will now appear in court in Australia on October 4 to address the issue.
