Prediction
Former World No. 1 Andy Murray is back on clay since his 2020 French Open tournament. The Briton earlier revealed that he would skip this year’s clay season but later decided to appear for the ATP 1000 Masters so that he can have some practice.
Murray has been very unlucky with his hip injuries and because of this, he fails to go ahead at the higher levels of the tournaments. The injury doesn’t allow him to stand on his own for too long and play on the court.
Murray’s best finish this year was being a finalist at the Sydney Tennis Classic in January. He hasn’t won a match in a row since reaching the aforementioned final. Since then, he has fallen in the second round of every tournament he has entered. He’ll be looking to reanimate some of the magic that contributed to his title-winning run in Madrid in 2015.
Meanwhile, Thiem was sidelined for a lengthy period and his return did not really impress the fans. The Australian has not advanced beyond the opening round of the tournaments he has participated in since he is back. Comparing both, Murray has more chances to go ahead into the second round as Thiem is yet to go ahead to the next round since his retrieval as well as looking at his current form, the British professional may cause problems for the newly returned from injury.
