The protagonist of the show is Ojasvini (Celesti Bairagey), a ninth-grader at Amber Girls School who aspires to be the Head Girl and acts as the class prefect. There are frequent conflicts between her parents since her father, who is unemployed, spends his time napping or watching TV, while her mother provides financial support for the family.
The most sensible family member, Tejasvini (Kajol Chugh), is a college student and the older sister of Ojasvini. She is aware of their financial difficulties. She starts working part-time jobs so she can support herself on her own. Ojasvini’s closest friends are Tokhi (Ishika Gagneja) and Srishti (Samaira Jain) from school, and her closest friend outside of school is Ishtaar (Adrija Sinha), who happens to be her neighbour.
