Amanda Serrano vs Sarah Mahfoud Match Events & How it Unfolded?
Serrano got right into the fight, intending to move down Mahfoud and land a barrage of powerful body blows. Mahfoud had to leap to her feet and cycle away to her left in an effort to avoid Serrano’s destructive southpaw left, which appeared to be damaging. However, she was merely pawing and unable to stop Serrano from moving forward as Serrano stepped up her intensity and buried nice shots.
Early rounds saw domination by Serrano, who focused her strikes on the opponent’s body and it appeared during the first period of the battle that she would be able to wear down the IBF champion. Mahfoud, though, displayed bravery and found opportunities to dart in and throw combinations. Although her punches lacked the same level of threat as Serrano’s, they stopped the Puerto Rican’s attack and assisted Mahfoud in making it to the final bell. Serrano, though, was declared the clear winner.
Amanda Serrano vs Sarah Mahfoud Post-match Reactions & Next Fight for Serrano
During the post-match interview, Serrano made her wish apparent that she wants to claim Erika Cruz’s WBA title, the only missing featherweight world championship and become the undisputed featherweight champion.
Serrano never runs out of options thanks to her great weight-hopping abilities, she has multiple options to chase after. A rematch with Katie Taylor, who just barely beat her in April is a definite money maker but the 33-year-old southpaw might go after WBA rival Erika Cruz-Hernandez for an undisputed featherweight battle.
