2023 All England men’s singles day 2 schedule, date, venue, latest results, & first-round draw
At the 2023 All England Open, Denmark’s top-seed Viktor Axelsen defeated Lee Cheuk Yiu in his first-round match on Tuesday. Although Lee clinched the first-set by score of 21-15, Axelsen held his nerve to win the second 21-19 and restore parity at 1-1. During the decisive set, both players seemed to have equal chances until Axelsen scored consecutive points to win 21-11. With this win, Axelsen has qualified for the second-round, where he is scheduled to face-off against Ng Tze Yong.
In Tuesday’s men’s singles matches in Birmingham, Indian shuttlers Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy qualified for the second-round with tenacious straight-game victories of their own. Sen, a finalist from last year, defeated fifth-seeded Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei 21-18, 21-19 in 48 minutes, while world No. 9 Prannoy overcame some tense moments to beat Tzu Wei Wang 21-19, 22-20 in a 49-minute match.

Each All England champion would receive 12,000 BWF points, while the runner-up in each category would receive roughly 10,200 points. It is well known that each semifinal match’s losers will receive 8,400 points. Despite being one of the favorites to win, seeded shuttlers like Chou Tien-chen and Loh Kean Yew will return home with only 3,000 BWF points after their first-round exits.

2023 All England Open: prize money distribution
Every singles category winner at the prestigious BWF Super 1000 All England Open will get $87,500 from the $900,000 total prize fund. Men’s singles runners-up will receive $42,500 in contrast to the semi-final losers’ $17,500 prize money. Due to their disappointing first-round eliminations, Loh Kean and Chou Tien-chen have only collected $1,250.
