During his second-round tie against Ginting, Indian ace HS Prannoy gave his best and forced a decider by winning the second-set. However, Ginting held his nerve to win the final set 21-17 and qualify for the quarterfinal of the 2023 All England Open.

While Anders Antonsen easily overcame Lakshya Sen by winning 21-13, 21-15, men’s number one Viktor Axelsen succumbed to defeat at the hands of Malaysian Ng Tze Yong, who emerged victorious by the score of 21-15, 9-21, 23-21. Meanwhile, third-seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting defeated HS Prannoy after an intense match by the score of 22-20, 15-21, & 21-17.

Among other matches of the day, Kidambi Srikanth crashed out after his 17-21, 15-21 loss against seventh-seed Kodai Naraoka and Malaysian ace Lee Zii Jia won his second-round tie comfortably against Nishimoto. It is confirmed that during Friday’s quarterfinal matches, Lee Zii Jia will face-off against Kodai Naraoka in an intense clash and Anthony Ginting will clash against Dane shuttler Antonsen.

2023 All England Open: BWF points award system

At the All England Open, each category champion would receive a total of 12,000 BWF points, with roughly 10,200 points going to the runner-up. Sen, Prannoy, & Srikanth, three Indian shuttlers, will leave with just 4,800 BWF points after losing their respective second-round ties.

2023 All England Open: prize money distribution

Each singles category champion at the 2023 BWF Super 1000 All England Open will get $87,500 from the tournament’s $1,250,000 total prize fund. The runners-up in men’s singles will receive $42,500 in contrast to the $17,500 awarded to semi-final losers. Sen, Prannoy, and Srikanth’s surprise elimination in the second round, for which they were only awarded $3,750, put an end to India’s challenge in the men’s singles category.
