This year’s Airthings Masters 2022 chess league phase has seen 15 completed rounds over four days, we take a look at the latest results, standings, points table, quarterfinal schedule

In total, sixteen participants are competed in the round-robin stage of the online event, with eight moving on to the knockout stage.

Airthings Masters 2022 Quarterfinals Schedule, Date, Time And Venue

The event started from February 19 and will run till February 26, with action starting at 18.00 CET every day. The tournament is taking place in online mode due to travel restrictions. Today will be the first day of play-offs at Airthings Masters as quarterfinal matches will be settled.

February 23- Quarter-finals

February 25- February 26- Finals

Day-4 will featured the last four round of matches in the league phase. Players were desperate to clinch points and secure play-off berths. Day-4 of Airthings masters began from 22nd February 18:30 CET.

Airthings Masters Chess 2022 Day 4 Results

On day-4, GM Nepomniachtchi managed to win only two points. However, he still managed to finish first after league phase. He finished four points ahead of second position.

Magnus Carlsen didn’t have a perfect day but managed to qualify for the play-offs by finishing second. Artemiev finished third, just behind Carlesn with 24 points.The top eight were Esipenko, Eric Hansen (Canada), Ding Liren and Liem Quang Le (both China), and Keymer.

Indian GM Praggnanandhaa defeated Carlsen and had an amazing day but fell short as he finished 12th. He finished with 19 points, which was 3 points shy off the 8th position.

Airthings Masters 2022 Chess Rules And Format

At the round-robin phases of The Airthings Masters, the round-robin will employ a football-style 3 point for a win, 1 point for a tie scoring system, and participants will earn cash bonuses for each rapid game played. The players will earn $750 for a victory and $250 for a draw.

The top eight players from the prelims earned play-off spots and will battle it out to win the tournament.

Tournament Rules

Starting with move 1, the players have 15 minutes to complete all of their moves, plus a 10-second increment. A win earns 3 points, while a tie earns 1 point in the preliminary round.

If a tiebreak is necessary, the players will play two 5+3 games and, if necessary, a single Armageddon game, in which White has 5 minutes against Black’s 4, but a tie count as a win for Black. Before move 40, no draw offers are permitted.
