In a short span of two years, AEW has built itself and is cementing its brand name all over people’s mind, know the wrestlers list who are in All Elite Wrestling from WWE
WWE may be the biggest name in the wrestling industry but AEW is in no way coming short in front of them. No company has ever been able to challenge WWE and they have always been the leader in this industry. But many WWE superstars are now in AEW and looks like many more superstars will be added to the AEW roster.
One of the most common criticisms leveled at All Elite Wrestling is that they only sign former WWE Superstars. While this isn’t strictly true – with the likes of Kenny Omega, Jungle Boy, MJF, Darby Allin, Britt Baker, and many others making waves in the industry despite never signing a WWE contract.
Simple math and logic dictate that most of the free agents and biggest names in wrestling are former WWE Superstars due to WWE’s supremacy for many decades.
AEW still haven’t reached the level where WWE is but in some year it will be very interesting to see how AEW will continue to fight with WWE for the no. 1 spot.
AEW Wrestlers List From WWE
Former WWE superstars in AEW
-
Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho, perhaps one of the best wrestlers of all time, has indeed been consistently renewing and recreating his persona for well over twenty years, with the majority of that time spent with WWE.
He departed the company in 2018 and was touted as AEW’s first significant outside deal in 2019. Jericho was the debut AEW World Champion and is still a key event performer.
- Cody Rhodes
While Cody Rhodes did not immediately transition from WWE to AEW, his dissatisfaction with the company and subsequent departure in 2016 proved to be a pivotal event in his path to becoming an AEW co-founder.
Cody spent the following few years on the international stage, working for TNA, ROH, and NJPW before assisting in the formation of AEW.
-
Dustin Rhodes (Goldust)
Dustin Rhodes, Cody’s older brother, has been a professional wrestler for almost 30 years and is best known for portraying the WWE character Goldust. Dustin’s most recent tenure with them ended in 2019, and once his contract finished, he joined his brother at AEW right afterward.
At Double or Nothing 2019, the brothers would have a fantastic, violent bout, and Dustin has been a key component of the roster since that.
- Pac (Neville)
Neville struggled on the main WWE roster after a successful stint in the early days of NXT. Neville eventually had a successful run as the villainous “King of the Cruiserweights” on 205 Live, but he walked out of WWE in 2018 after losing to Enzo Amore.
Outside of a period when COVID travel limitations kept him out of the United States, Neville, now Pac, came to AEW in January 2019 and has been a crucial figure in growing the brand.
- Brodie Lee (Luke Harper)
Brodie Lee’s wild personality and hard-hitting style earned him admirers in WWE as Luke Harper, but WWE never seemed on how to utilize him. Lee announced his departure from WWE in late 2019 and made his AEW debut a few months later as The Dark Order’s “Exalted One.”
Brodie went on to capture the TNT Championship and had a feud with Cody Rhodes. Lee died in December 2020 as a result of an unexpected illness.
-
Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose)
Jon Moxley had been dissatisfied with his character’s development in WWE for a long time when he caused his WWE contract to end. He was a WWE world champion for a short time, but he was loved by fans for his charisma.
Moxley debuted on AEW’s inaugural pay-per-view, Double or Nothing 2019, and made a big impression. Later, he dethroned Jericho for the world championship but lost to Kenny Omega.
- Sting
He is a real wrestling icon who spent most of his career as a top star in WCW and was the only big WCW talent who did not join WWE when WCW folded. Sting, on the other hand, became a staple in TNA.
When he eventually joined WWE in 2014, he was scheduled to lose his first match and then get injured while facing Seth Rollins. Sting was supposed to be retired until he reappeared in AEW in 2020, demonstrating that he is still going strong at the age of 62.
-
Mark Henry
Mark Henry, the “World’s Strongest Man,” made his WWE debut in 1996 and took nearly 15 years to find his footing becoming the main event participant, thanks to 2011’s great “Hall of Pain” storyline.
Henry, like his former opponent Big Show, is now a respected icon and WWE Hall of Famer, and he stunned fans by joining AEW in 2021.
-
Paul Wight (The Big Show)
Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show, is a massive guy who, after more than two decades in WWE, appeared in AEW. Wight abruptly departed WWE in February 2021 to join AEW. Wight hasn’t ruled out returning to the ring in AEW, even though he’s semi-retired and now works as a guest commentator.
- Christian Cage (Christian)
Cage stunned fans by returning to WWE at Royal Rumble 2021 after being assumed to be retired due to injury concerns. Christian left nearly as fast as he returned to AEW, as he wasn’t under contract with WWE.
Rather than re-signing with WWE, Christian joined AEW and made his debut at Revolution 2021. Christian has been unable to win AEW singles gold, but it’s only a matter of time until he does.
-
Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy has always been in the middle of the wrestling industry, whether it’s in WWE, TNA, ROH, or now AEW, since the advent of the Hardy Boyz in the Attitude Era. Fans were eagerly anticipating Matt’s return to WWE in 2017, but his “Broken” gimmick never materialized inside the WWE arena. Matt joined AEW in 2020 and is now resurrecting his TNA villain character “Big Money Matt.”
-
Miro (Rusev)
The former Russian brute Rusev, who debuted as a pretty conventional foreign heel character, naturally won over WWE fans after he began to display more of his personality, resulting in the highly famous “Rusev Day” gimmick. Rusev was never pushed as a big talent by WWE, and after a disastrous battle with Bobby Lashley over his wife Lana, Miro moved to AEW in 2020.
- Shawn Spears (Tye Dillinger)
Tye Dillinger eventually found his groove under the “Perfect 10” gimmick, getting over organically with the audience after a few years of not accomplishing anything in NXT. Dillinger’s tenure on the main WWE roster, however, was marred by failure, and that also has been the case in the past. Dillinger debuted in AEW in 2019 as Shawn Spears.
-
FTR (The Revival)
FTR, formerly known as The Revival, were major sensations in NXT at the time, becoming the company’s first two-time tag team champions. The Revival moved to AEW in 2020 after several years of terrible booking on the main WWE roster and went on to become AEW tag team champions for a while.
They are currently managed by wrestling veteran Tully Blanchard and are part of MJF’s villainous alliance The Pinnacle.
-
Jake Hager (Jack Swagger)
Jack Swagger appeared destined to be a top WWE star who is big, athletic, and competent in the ring, but it never quite worked out. He had a brief stint with the WWE World Championship, although he was primarily relegated to the mid-card.
Swagger departed WWE in 2017 and made his AEW debut on the inaugural Dynamite broadcast in 2019 following a brief stay in Lucha Underground. Chris Jericho’s stable, The Inner Circle, presently have him as a member.
-
CM Punk
CM Punk is now an official part of AEW coming in the past month. After 8 years he came back to be a part of the AEW roster. Punk walked out in 2014 from WWE due to many issues he had with the company and is in the AEW wrestlers list from WWE.
- Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan)
Daniel Bryan came to AEW and joined the list of wrestlers joining from WWE in style and fought Kenny Omega for the AEW championship. What a sensational match it was. After his contract expired Bryan moved on to become part of the AEW roster.
-
Adam Cole
Like Daniel Bryan, Cole too left WWE after his contract expired and now is part of Kenny Omega’s stable “The Super Elite”
These were some of the biggest WWE superstars who are now in AEW.
