Novak Djokovic vs Sebastian Korda

On Sunday evening in Adelaide, Novak Djokovic was down and on the verge of losing when he faced a championship point against Sebastian Korda. However, the Serbian found a way to win his 92nd tour-level championship in signature fashion.

At 5-6 in the second set, Djokovic saved the match’s final match point before outlasting the American 6-7(8), 7-6(3), 6-4 after a gruelling three hours and nine minutes. Korda missed a final forehand long, and Djokovic acknowledged his tenacity by tapping his right index finger to his head.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Linda Noskova

Second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka defeated qualifier Linda Noskova 6-2 7-6 (4) in the women’s final of the Adelaide International to win her 11th WTA Tour singles championship and her first in over two years. By doing so, she put an end to the 18-year-old Noskova’s remarkable run, during which time the third-seeded Daria Kasatkina and the past winner of the Australian Open Viktoria Asarenka were defeated in the main draw on their route to Noskova’s first final.

Sabalenka didn’t lose a set all week and looked like she was going to cruise to another victory on Sunday when she won the opening set. Noskova, though, was far more aggressive in the second set, maintaining serve and applying pressure on Sabalenka’s serve, particularly with her potent backhand returns.
