Abdul Khader’s full name is Abdul Kahder Nadakattin. He is credited with more than 40 innovations that assist small and marginal farmers in the field of agriculture. Khader’s popular innovations include the tamarind seed separation machine, a ploughing blade making machine, a seed cum fertilizer drill. He also invented a twin in one, a water-heating boiler, an automatic sugarcane sowing driller, and also made a wheel tiller.

Abdul Khader Nadakattin was born in 1953 in Annigeri in Dharwad district in Karnataka as the only son of a wealthy farmer father and had his formal education only up to the Standard 10 with him aged 68 years currently. He wanted to continue his studies but his father insisted that he discontinue his formal education and turn to agricultural.
He has dedicated 35 years of his life to agriculture with him once taking a Rs.2 crore after losing 60 acres of his land. Married, he has a son named Imam Sab Nadakattin.
Abdul Khader Nadakattin’s first invention was the “Water Alarm” which he developed while he was studying in school. Khader developed this device to help him get up from bed early in the mornings. Khader tied a thin rope knotted to the end of the alarm key in a timepiece to a bottle of water in such a way that after the ringing of the alarm water would fall on his face.
This invention helped him in getting up early. He also made inventions including, the machine for sharpening the tractor harrow blade, a machine for sowing seeds of different sizes for the make sure of proper spacing,
He also made a water-heating boiler, they could heat enough water for bathing 20 people by using five kg of wood chips in about ten minutes. The device can keep the water hot for nearly more than 24 hours.
In 1975 Abdul Khader Nadakattin established a company named Vishwashanthi Agricultural Research and Industrial Research Centre in Annigeri, Dharwad for the manufacturing and marketing of agricultural equipment, devices, and machines developed by him.

Recently in 2022, The Indian Government presented the Padma Shri award to Abdul Khader which is one of the third highest awards in the Padma series of awards. He was honored for his distinguished service in the field of grass-root innovations.
He Earlier also received the Lifetime Achievement Award during the National Innovation Foundation-India’s 8th National Grassroots Innovation and Outstanding Traditional Knowledge Awards in the year 2015.
