Twitter went berserk as Anurag Thakur, the Union Sports Minister of India posted the bird’s eye view of a football stadium in Leh Ladakh, the highest ground in the country

.In a country where cricket is devoted more than anything else, this stadium at 11000 ft is a feather in the cap of Indian football.

This stadium is situated at Spituk, Leh which is 11000 ft above sea level. The stadium was founded as a part of the famous Khelo India tournament.

Indian football is growing by leaps and bounds especially after the introduction of the Indian Super League. The Indian Government has undertaken a lot of initiatives for the development of sports from the grass-root level and this stadium is part of this wonderful plan that the Indian Government has. The foundation of this stadium had been laid by previous Sports Minister of India Kiran Rijiju in September 2020.

What makes this arena more fascinating is that it is flanked by mountains and these mountains have a clear blue sky above them. This stadium would definitely enter the list of picturesque stadiums in the world.

This beautiful stadium will inspire a lot of budding footballers in the area. This state-of-art football arena in the ‘cold desert’ epitomizes how one should remain focused on their goals and neglect all the negativity around them.

Details of The Leh Ladakh Football Stadium: Cost, Capacity, Height, Location

According to Ravindra Kumar, Commissioner Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports, UT of Ladakh, training sessions and matches will start very soon. It will serve as a multipurpose training center with a hostel facility of ten thousand beds.

The stadium has a standard size of track and AstroTurf pitch. The arena will have a crowd capacity of around 30,000. According to officials, the stadium is yet to open officially. The cost of the entire project is around 10.50 crores Indian Rupees, but this would sound negligible in the future when thousands of passionate footballers will start their journey right from this arena in Leh, just 11000 ft. above sea level.

The foundation stone for the Synthetic Track & Astro Turf for Football and Gymnasium Hall at NDS Stadium in Leh has also been laid.
