Before she and her family relocated to New Jersey, where Ferrari attended the Blair Academy as the top-ranked student in the nation, Ferrari won the bronze medal in the 2018 Cadet World Championship.
He defeated Jacob Cardenas, the second-ranked wrestler in the nation, to win the Beast of the East championship while he was still a student at Blair, which helped the team win. He also won another Ironman title, which also helped the team win.
After the season, he switched to Bergen Catholic High School where he was still productive but unable to compete like Blair. Following that, he returned to Allen, Texas, where an ankle ailment caused his final year to be cut short. Ferrari won the freestyle US Junior National Championship in 2020.
Record
Ferrari finished the regular season with a 12-1 record, with the top-ranked Noah Adams of West Virginia handing him his lone loss. First true freshman to be named the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler since 2005, Ferrari entered the season later but quickly advanced through the bracket to win their first Big 12 Conference title.
At the NCAAs, fourth-seeded Ferrari defeated highly ranked Tanner Sloan and Iowa All-American Jacob Warner in two matches to advance to the semi-finals, where he would next compete against Olympian and B1G champion Miles Amin. By defeating the three-time champion and highly competent All-American, Ferrari was able to displace the top seed and move to the championship match.
He won against Pittsburgh’s Nino Bonaccorsi in the championship match to become the third Cowboys player ever to win the NCAA title as a true freshman.
