The Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will host the 2022 Malaysia Masters, a badminton competition with a US$360,000 total prize fund, from July 5 to July 10, 2022. The doubles tournament was anticipated to be particularly exciting for Indian badminton fans since the nation’s shuttlers were under pressure to seek revenge for recent defeats. But the Indian doubles team was once again let down, as not a single pair advanced through the preliminary stage of the competition.

Despite losing 21-14, 21-18 against South Korea’s world No. 11 Jeong Na Eun-Kim, the Malaysian world No. 37 was unable to advance to the Malaysia Masters semifinals today. Hey Jeong, they are aware that they can compete with the best pairs. After making it to the same round in the Super 750 Malaysia Open the previous week, Anna-Mei Xing advanced to the quarterfinals for the second week in a row. Anna-Mei Xing are not discouraged despite their regret at not being able to advance to the final. They have promised to bounce back at the World Championships stronger.
Their excitement is fair given that the duo performed well the previous week, pulling off several significant upsets, including victories over the world No. 3 Japan’s world No. 6 and Lee So Hee-Shin Seung Chan Wakana Nagahara and Mayu Matsumoto.

Points Award System
The BWF scoring system was used to allocate points for each round of the BWF World Tour Super 500 competition. The winners of each competition are awarded 9,200 BWF points, while the losers are awarded 7,800 BWF points. The enormous number of points up for grabs will undoubtedly serve as motivation for competitors who want to move up in the BWF World Rankings.
