Prediction
The 23-year-old will want to advance to her first-ever Grand Slam final after winning six of her past eight matches on grass. She also defeated Coco Vandeweghe, Bianca Andreescu, Qinwen Zheng, and Petra Martic on the way to the Wimbledon semifinals.
On the other hand, Halep is about to participate in her eighth Grand Slam semifinal, so she is in familiar terrain. The Romanian just defeated Amanda Anisimova in straight sets, a match that required 18 games to determine. She converted four of her six break chances, winning 63 per cent of first-serve points and 77 per cent of second-serve points. Additionally, she stopped seven out of eight break points.
Halep will enter the match as a huge favourite and is expected to advance to the final. Rybakina’s serve-dependent style contrasts sharply with Halep’s all-around performance. In contrast to Tomljanovic, who the 23-year-old Kazakh beat after a sluggish start, Halep won’t give her a chance to recover in the semifinals. The experience of the Romanian will be useful when the competition gets tough.
