B Sai Praneeth and Parupalli Kashyap advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the men’s singles at 2022 Malaysia Masters with contrasting victories. While Praneeth easily defeated Guatemalan Kevin Cordon, winning 21-8, 21-9 in less than 30 minutes, Kashyap overcame hometown favorite Tommy Sugiarto by scores of 16-21, 21-16, 21-16 after falling behind one game to none.

The Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is hosting the 2022 Malaysia Masters, a badminton competition with a US$360,000 total prize pool, from July 5 to July 10, 2022.

2022 Malaysia Masters Badminton Men’s Singles First Round Results, Fixtures, Players List
Momota Kento was beaming as the Japanese badminton champion defeated fellow countryman Watanabe Koki 21-18, 21-13 on Wednesday to advance to round two of the Malaysia Masters and set up a matchup with another countryman Tsuneyama Kanta. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia had to put in more effort to proceed. The sixth-seeded player in the event required one hour and six minutes to upset Nishimoto Kenta of Japan 8-21, 21-14, 22-20. The Olympic bronze medallist will next face Kashyap Parupalli of India.
Jonatan Christie of Indonesia, who won the 2022 Asian silver medal, will not compete in the Malaysia Masters after falling to Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei, who was not seeded, 21-16, 18-21, and 25-27.

The BWF World Tour Super 500 competition’s point distribution for each round was determined using the BWF scoring system. Men’s Singles tournament winners receive 9,200 BWF points, while runners-up receive 7,800. Competitors seeking to climb the BWF World Rankings will definitely be encouraged by the large amount of points available for grabs.
