The Malaysia Masters is a badminton competition in the Super 500 grade, formerly a Grand Prix Gold, that first took place in 2009. Previously worth $120,000, the total prize money is now $360,000. Since 2018, BWF has included the Malaysia Masters as one of the seven BWF World Tour Super 500 competitions.

Since the inception of Malaysia Masters, two Indian shuttlers have managed to become champion in Women’s Singles category for a total of three times. PV Sindhu won the gold in 2013 and 2016 while Saina Nehwal was crowned as the champion in 2017. However, India failed to produce a champion in any of the other categories.

Since its beginning, Indonesian, Chinese and Malaysian shuttlers have dominated the Malaysia Masters. In the Malaysia Masters, China and Indonesia have won a total of 11 titles across all categories, while hosts Malaysia took home 12. Throughout the history of the Indonesia Masters, Malaysia has won a massive 12 titles across all categories including 5 titles in Men’s Singles Category and another 4 titles in Men’s Doubles Category.
