2015 European Darts Matchplay
The eighth of nine PDC European Tour competitions on the 2015 PDC Pro Tour was the European Darts Matchplay. From September 18 to 20, 2015, the competition was held at the Olympiahalle in Innsbruck, Austria. In the championship match, Michael van Gerwen prevailed 6-4 over Dave Chisnall to claim victory.
2018 European Darts Matchplay
The ninth of thirteen PDC European Tour competitions on the 2018 PDC Pro Tour was the 2018 European Darts Matchplay. From June 29 to July 1, 2018, the competition was held in the edel-optics.de Arena in Hamburg, Germany. There were 48 participants in the field, and there was £135,000 in prize money, with £25,000 going to the victor. After defeating Mensur Suljovi 6-3 in the championship match the year before, Michael van Gerwen was the defending champion. He successfully defended his title by outlasting William O’Connor 8-2 in the final.
End of Michael van Gerwen’s dominance at 2019 European Darts Matchplay
Of the thirteen PDC European Tour competitions on the 2019 PDC Pro Tour, the 2019 European Darts Matchplay was the tenth. From September 6–8, 2019, the competition was held at the Maimarkthalle in Mannheim, Germany. There were 48 players in the field, and the winner took home £25,000 out of the £140,000 in prize money. Reigning champion Van Gerwen made it to his third European Tour final in five events, but Joe Cullen defeated him 8-5 to claim his maiden stage victory.
