Men’s FIH Pro League Hockey India vs Netherlands Results, Score, And Winners
So far, seventy matches have been played in the FIH Pro League 2021-22 season and now only two games are left in the 2022 FIH Pro Hockey League. However, with the top-four teams already securing their place, the last two games won’t bear much importance on the standings.
The Indian men’s hockey team’s FIH Pro League title ambitions were dashed on Sunday when they were defeated 1-2 by the Netherlands in the second leg of a two-game tie between the teams. Earlier in the first leg match on Saturday, India had lost 1-4 to the Dutch in the shoot-out after both teams finished 2-2 at the end of the ordinary 60 minutes. To have a chance of clinching the title, the Indians required an outright victory over the Netherlands, but it was not to be.
The Indians got off to a fast start, scoring just 30 seconds on a superb field goal by Abhishek. Abhishek grabbed the ball on the right side and used superb stickwork to get the ball past Mauritzs Visser, the Netherlands’ second goalie. The Netherlands, on the other hand, clawed their way back into the game in the seventh minute, when Jip Janssen converted a penalty corner. Later, third quarter had exciting hockey, but neither team scored until the 45th minute, when Jorrit Croon scored off a set piece to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.
