The Horizon Cup, which took place in November 2021 and was won by Chinese team DKG, was the inaugural global event in Wild-Rift Esports. Only three teams from the Horizon Cup (Sengoku, KT Rolster, and Team Queso) have qualified for the Icons Championship.
FunPlus Phoenix earned a spot in the tournament by winning the WRL 2022 Season 1 championship. The team is a strong contender for the Icon award. In recent months, Team Flash & Team Queso have already been performing well. KL Rolster & Sengoku, who finished fourth and sixth in the Horizon Cup, will compete for their first worldwide championship.
