First And Best Cricket Moments

First International cricket match

We all know that Australia and England  played the first-ever officially recognised test match at
MCG on March 15-19, 1877, which Australia won by 45 runs.

But, honestly, do you believe this was the first ever cricket match between two nations On September 24-26, 1844, at St George’s Cricket Club in New York, the first ever cricket match between two countries was played.

It was not just the first international cricket match, but the first international match of
any sport as well.

First world cup in cricket

First One day World Cup

The first Cricket World Cup was held in England in 1975, consisting of a series of 60-over one-day matches.

For the first time in 1987, it was held outside of England, in India and Pakistan.  The number of overs per side was similarly decreased to 50 in the 1987 match.

First T20 world cup

India won the first T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007, generating a massive market for T20 in the subcontinent, which the IPL immediately exploited.

First World Test championship

The International Cricket Council (ICC) launched the World Test Championship on August 1, 2019, as a league tournament for Test cricket.

It is supposed to be the flagship Test cricket tournament. It is in accordance with the International Cricket Council’s vision of having one peak competition for each of the three
international cricket formats.

First hit wicket in cricket

West indies opener Roy Frederics become the first batsman to get out by hit wicket. It happened during the 1975 WC final between Australia and West Indies.

Roy Frederics hooked the brutal short bowl out of the ground bowled by Dennis Lillie but he lost his balance and his one leg disabled the bails from the stumps and he was given out by the umpire that made him the first batsman to get out by hit wicket.

First Six in cricket

In 1898, almost 21 years after the first Test was played in history, Australian batsman Joe Darling hit the first six in international cricket. Earlier, when batsmen used to hit a six, they used to count as 5 runs.

First century in cricket

This was the first century of international cricket in tests. Charles Bannerman hit a century in the very first test match ever played. He scored 165 in that match.

Denis Amiss, who made 103 runs against Australia at Old Trafford in 1972, became the first ODI century.

Chris Gayle of the West Indies recorded the first T20I century against South Africa in the first ICC World Twenty20 in 2007.

First wicket and first catch in cricket

Allen Hill of England took the first wicket and the first catch in Test cricket history on the first morning of the first-ever Test in 1877.

Hill took the first wicket in Test cricket when he bowled Australia’s Nat Thomson for one run.

First four in cricket

Charles bannerman also the first batsman to hit a four in a cricket. He scored 165 in that match.
