He is currently 15 points behind Verstappen in the drivers’ standings, as Red Bull has taken advantage of the new technical regulations for 2022, winning five of seven races.

“I am honored to be a part of this team, and I feel completely at ease here.” We’re getting along great, and my friendship with Max, both on and off the track, is definitely propelling us forward.

Perez helped Verstappen win the world championship in Abu Dhabi in 2021 by holding up the Dutchman’s rival Lewis Hamilton on older tyres, allowing Verstappen to capitalize on the late race safety car controversy.
