World’s Strongest Man Day 3 Recap and Final Roster

The ten finalists have been revealed after the third day of action in the Qualifying Stage. After a rest day on May 27, participants will compete in six events for the title of World’s Strongest Man on May 28 and 29.

Each strongman in the Stone-Off has to lift six Atlas stones ranging in weight from 100 to 200 kg (440.9 pounds). After both athletes had successfully raised the sixth stone, they proceeded until one of them failed. The competition was terminated after the first man failed a lift.

In the Stone-Off, the athletes who finished third in their group had the initiative, which meant they were the first to lift — a considerable disadvantage. Only one athlete in the history of this style has ever won when starting with the initiative, according to 2017 WSM champion Eddie Hall.

Gabriel Rhéaume defeated Kevin Faires in Group 1 while Brian Shaw defeated Bobby Thompson in Group 2. In other matchups, Trey Mitchell defeated Adam Bishop in Group 3 and Maxime Boudreault defeated Pavlo Kordiyaka in Group 4. Lastly, Eythor Ingolfsson Melsted defeated Jean-Stephen Coraboeuf in Group 5 and advanced to the final.

In the Final, the five winners of stone-off will compete alongside Tom Stoltman, Luke Stoltman, Oleksii Novikov, Martins Licis, and Mitchell Hooper. CBS will be streaming the event in the time to come but there’s no date for it yet.
