The mango production in the state is only projected to be 6-8 lakh tonnes this year due to climatic circumstances and hormonal imbalance. However, according to Mr. Nagaraju, the quality of the fruit has not been adversely affected.
The Mango Board further stated that all of the mangoes sold at the mela were ripened using ethylene. Or natural processes rather than calcium carbide. In addition, the mela will solely employ biodegradable packing materials.
The 18-day mela will feature 30-40 types of mangoes as well as 10-12 varieties of jackfruit with red, yellow, and orange flowers. Mango vendors will be given 106 booths, while jackfruit vendors will be given 16 stalls. Those selling mango and jackfruit goods such as juice, chips, papad, and other items would be given eight booths. In addition, five kiosks for prominent mango vendors will be set up at Cubbon Park.
