PV Sindhu of India has exited the Thailand Open 2022 after losing in the women’s singles semi-final against Chen Yu Fei of China, a Tokyo Olympic gold medalist, at the Impact Arena in Bangkok on Saturday. Sindhu, who had defeated world No. 1 Akane Yamaguchi in the BWF Super 500 quarter-finals on Friday, lost the final-four match 21-17, 21-16.
Tai Tzu-ying of Taiwan advanced to the finals of the Thailand Open 2022 women’s singles after escaping a scare in the semifinals against Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon. Tai, the top seed and world No. 2, defeated Ratchanok, the Thai opponent, 10-21, 21-13, 21-19 in 58 minutes at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, in a replay of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics women’s singles quarterfinals.
