The Thailand Open is the ninth tournament on the BWF World Tour, and is also a part of the Thailand Open championships, which have been held since 1984. The tournament is being hosted by the Badminton Association of Thailand and sanctioned by the BWF.

The first round match at Thailand Open between India’s mixed doubles pair of Reddy B Sumeeth & Ashwini Ponnappa and Japan’s Yuki Kaneko & Misaki Matsutomo ended in defeat for the former. After losing the first two games 21-17 apiece, Sumeeth and Ponnappa were eliminated from the tournament.
