Raiola Taking Medical Helps From January
In January, Raiola’s account tweeted that he was receiving “routine” medical examinations and had not required “emergency intervention.”
While his exact disease isn’t known, he was in the hospital for a prolonged time owing to a lung disease with the nature of his illness said to be severe.
Career
In the 1990s, Raiola rose to popularity in the Netherlands and Italy, where he was instrumental in the transfers of Dennis Bergkamp and Pavel Nedved to Serie A.
Raiola most recently assisted with the acquisition of Paul Pogba from Juventus to Manchester United, which set a new global record at the time.
He also assisted Erling Haaland’s move from Red Bull Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund.
Personal life and death
Raiola spoke Italian, English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Dutch, among other languages.
Raiola was admitted to San Raffaele Hospital in Milan in January 2022. Raiola’s business partner and the doctor who was treating him both stated in April 2022 that Raiola was “fighting” for his life. Several news sites announced his death on April 28, which he later denied in a social media post, writing: “Second time in four months they kill me.”
Raiola’s official Twitter account issued a message from his family in both English and Italian on April 30, 2022, confirming his death at the age of 54.
