Currently on contract with Ajax till June 2023, Erik bags home $4million per year at the club. He is married to Bianca Ten Hag.
Ajax are aware of the situation and still working with United to achieve an agreement. United will also need to finalize arrangements and documents, and no official agreement or announcement will be made until after Ajax’s Dutch Cup final against PSV Eindhoven on April 17.
Ten Hag is supposed to take over from interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who has been in charge since former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired by the Premier League side in November.
Erik ten Hag Managerial History, Achievements and Trophies
Erik ten Hag was named head coach of AFC Ajax on December 21, 2017, after Marcel Keizer was fired by the club. For the first time since 1997, he led his Ajax club to the semi-finals of the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League.
On 5 May 2019, ten Hag won his first management title with Ajax, the 2018–19 KNVB Cup, after defeating Willem II in the final. Ajax, headed by Ten Hag, won the Eredivisie after a 1–4 away victory over De Graafschap, bringing the double back to the club only ten days after winning the cup.
With a 2–1 triumph over Vitesse in the final on April 18, 2021, Ten Hag led Ajax to their record-extending 20th KNVB Cup. Ten Hag’s contract at Ajax was extended two weeks later, through the end of the 2022–23 season. Erik ten Hag was able to earn up to $4 million each year as a result of this contract.
Coaching Tactics, Record And Teams Managed By Erik ten Hag
After taking over at Ajax in December 2017, Ten Hag eventually changed the team’s 4-3-3 formation to the 4-2-3-1 that worked so effectively in the 2018/19 season. Many of the key players from Ajax’s 2018/19 season have already left, but Ten Hag has adapted and rebuilt his squad. He’s gone back to a 4-3-3 formation.
The principles most widely associated with his team are width, verticality (counter-movements), decoy runs and manipulation of opposition presses/blocks and from goal-kicks, Ten Hag’s Ajax build from a deep position with the keeper plus two centrebacks. This offers a build-up structure and the centrebacks are typically comfortable with the ball.
At United, Erik ten Hag will likely make his tactics after reviewing the set of players available next season since United are expected to undergo massive changes this summer transfer window.
With the Manchester United job up for grabs, there's only one direction the club should look in, & that's towards sunny Amsterdam!
Erik ten Hag is an *ELITE* coach who's 4-3-3 showcases elements of Guardiola's on-ball style & Klopp's off-ball style. Scary good.
