The ACBS Asian Men’s Snooker Championship is Asia’s premier amateur snooker tournament. The Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports has sanctioned the tournament series since 1984. Typically, the tournament winner qualifies for the Professional Snooker Tour’s next season.
Pankaj Advani was the reigning champion of the tournament having won the 2021 as well as 2019 edition. However, Advani bowed out of the tournament with a Round of 16 loss against eventual champion Amir Sarkhosh.
Asian Men’s Snooker Championship 2022 Venue
The tournament took place at Doha, Qatar. The top players and best runner-ups qualified for the knockout rounds. The top players from each group qualified directly for the Round of 16 stage while the runner-ups from all groups qualified for the Round of 24 stage.
Asian Snooker Championship 2022 Final Winner, Results And Score
Indian player Ishpreet Singh Chadha defeated Aung Phyo 5-1 in the semi-finals and marched onto the finals. Meanwhile, Amir Sarkhosh of Iran advanced to the final of the Asian Snooker Championship for the second year in a row after winning 5-2 against Muhammad Asif.
In the final. Amir Sarkhosh completely outclasses Ishpreet and won the match with a score of 5-0 to become the champion at Asian Men’s Snooker Championship. With this win, Amir managed to avenge his loss in the finals last year.
On March 11th, he competed in the World Championship final, where he was defeated by Pakistan’s Ahsan Ramzan in the decisive frame. In the knockout rounds, his poor seeding pitted him against the sport’s heavyweights. Despite this, he kept his consistency and knocked off his arch-rival Pankaj Advani 4-3 in the Last16 stage, whom he had previously defeated.
