Magnussen Returned To Haas In 2022 On A Multi-Year Agreement: Contract Details And Formula One Salary
Kevin Magnussen has signed a multi-year contract with Haas F1 Team to drive alongside Mick Schumacher in the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2022.
Magnussen will pilot the team’s VF-22 for the first time at the official pre-season test on the 10th and 12th of March at Bahrain International Circuit, alongside Schumacher and test and reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi. He has a net worth of $24 million and earns $6 million at Haas.
Magnussen’s Career
Magnussen (29), a 119-race Formula One veteran who made his debut on the podium in 2014, formerly competed for Haas F1 Team from 2017 until 2020, having joined the American-owned team following spells with McLaren and Renault.
In 2018, the Roskilde-born driver finished ninth in the Formula One Drivers’ Championship with Haas F1 Team, recording top 10 finishes in 11 of the VF-18’s 21 races, including a pair of fifth-place finishes in Bahrain and Austria. Magnussen made 79 starts during his debut season with the Kannapolis-based team, with his final race coming in December 2020 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Throughout the year of 2021, Magnussen continued to demonstrate his racing pedigree. The Dane finished fourth in his first season in the United States after winning a race in the IMSA SportsCar Championship with Chip Ganassi Racing. The 2021 season also includes a race debut for High Class Racing in the LMP2 category alongside his father Jan Magnussen at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as a one-off IndyCar start for Arrow McLaren SP at Road America.

Magnussen commented that he was certainly really shocked but equally very thrilled to receive the call from Haas F1 Team. He was considering a another path for his 2022 obligations, but the possibility to race in Formula 1 again, especially with a team he knew well, was simply too attractive. He has to express his gratitude to both Peugeot and Chip Ganassi Racing for releasing him so quickly — they are both fantastic enterprises.
