Biography of Nadungwamuwa Raja

Nadungwamuwa Raja was an Indian Tusker born in Mysore. He was the current chief coffin attendant of the Esara procession held in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It was one of the two elephant calves given by Mosul Maharaja to an experienced local doctor monk who lived in the Miriyandara Nira Mahara Temple.

In 1978, Nadunghamwaraja was the second owner of the then prominent Ayurvedic doctor, Dharma Vijaya Vedalarahamy (the father of the current owner, Dr. Hasha Dharveda) in the Nadunghamwa region. He was Acquired by (Herbertwikramashinge, a former member of Parliament in Dunga). Since then, the elephant has been named after its place of residence, Nadunghamwa.
