India Wins Bid To Host IOC Session 2022 In Mumbai After 40 Years 

In a massive boost to India’s sporting aspirations, the country has won the bid to host the IOC session in 2023 in Mumbai

Having last hosted an IOC back in 1983 in New Delhi, India has once again won the bid to host the International Olympic Committee’s session. Come 2023, the country will be hosting the IOC session in Mumbai after winning its bid for it at the 139th IOC session currently underway in Beijing.

Mumbai To Host 2023 IOC Session, First In 40 Years In India

The Indian delegation representing the country at the bid constituted of IOC member Nita Ambani, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Dr.Narinder Batra, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur. India’s first individual Olympic gold medalist (Beijing 2008, shooting) Mr.Abhinav Bindra, made the presentation to IOC members during the session on why India should be given the rights to host the session.

“It is our ambition to host the Olympic Games in the future,” said Nita Ambani.

“I truly believe India is on the verge of creating something very special with the Olympic Movement,” she continued.

The IOC Executive Board had recommended Mumbai as the location for the 2023 session after a survey of the facilities at the Jio World Centre. Satisfied with the worldclass amenities at the venue, the IOC gave the nod for the session, one which will see meetings take place in the city in the months of May and June next year.

The session will decide on the host country for the 2030 Winter Olympics along with the time table of the 2028 Summer Olympics among a slew of topics to be discussed.
