Gille is in custody in Grand Traverse County Jail and faces 11 counts of assault with intent to murder and one terrorism charge in relation to the mass stabbing incident at a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan, where he used a folding knife with a 3.5-inch blade to stab 11 people.
He entered the Walmart around 4:10 p.m. and then went on a stabbing spree near the checkout area around 4:45 p.m and the victims, six of whom were in critical condition and five who were in severe condition, were transported to the Munson Medical Center.

As of now, the exact motive behind the attack remains unclear, but officials believe that the victims were chosen at random.

Authorities have named 42-year-old Bradford James Gille as the main suspect in Saturday’s mass stabbing at a Walmart in Traverse City. Gille allegedly injured 11 people armed with a folding knife before bystanders eventually managed to stop him by tackling him. Following which the police eventually managed to arrest him on the spot. After the incident unfolded, Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea seemingly praised the citizens who intervened and credited them with preventing further tragedy.

Following the tragic shooting incident, Bradford James Gille faces 11 counts of assault with intent to murder and one count of terrorism. According to investigators, there is currently no evidence that Gille targeted specific individuals. Instead, the attacks appear to have been random and law enforcement authorities are still working to determine a motive behind the shootings.

White Christian American Bradford James Gille is a 42-year-old resident of Afton, Michigan, who was recently identified as the main suspect in the recent Michigan Walmart stabbing. As of now, there is little to no information available about his upbringing or personal life, besides a few details. Aside from having a criminal history, Gille is reportedly involved in amateur mixed martial arts. He has also self-published a book in 2023 titled The Book of I Jesus Christ, although its contents remain largely unknown.
Gille resides in Afton, Michigan, in Cheboygan County, Shea said, which is about 90 miles from the Traverse City Walmart and has lived in several nearby counties, including Emmet and Presque Isle County.
Court records described him as a persistent menace with a long history of criminal behavior and mental health problems and he was reportedly diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia 26 years back.
His history of mental health issues and rape sheet spans two decades almost, and includes arrests for violent crimes.
