The two had first met during their collegiate years between 2014 and 2018, when both represented the Aggies on the tennis court. During that period, Rinderknech had emerged as one of the team’s most decorated players, earning All-American honors in both singles and doubles. He also played a key role in leading the squad to a deep run at the NCAA Championships.

During the 2017–18 season, Hortense Boscher led the Texas A&M–Corpus Christi women’s tennis team as its senior captain, providing both experience and composure at the top of the lineup. In the previous season, she guided the Islanders from the No. 1 singles position, helping the team secure both the Southland Conference regular season and tournament titles while earning a berth in the NCAA Championships. Hortense’s sophomore year featured a strong 13–3 singles record overall, with seven of those wins coming in conference play.

Alongside Alexandra Belle, she compiled an impressive 17–1 doubles record. The conference honored her with First Team All-Southland recognition in doubles and Second Team honors in singles. Before transferring to Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, she spent a season at Texas Tech under coach Todd Petty. During that year, she helped the Red Raiders reach the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and a No. 16 ITA national ranking.

In the fall, she claimed the singles title at the Purdue Invitational and reached the Round of 16 at the USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational. In the spring, she partnered with Gabriela Talaba in No. 3 doubles, and the duo posted a 5–1 record in dual matches. She studied at Lycée Sonia Delaunay in Villepreux, France, and consistently ranked among the top ten junior players in the country. In 2012, she competed at the French High School National Championship.

Born on November 26, 1996, in Saint Germain en Laye, France, she is the daughter of Serge and Marianne Boscher and has a sibling named Jules. While excelling on the court, she also pursued a business major, maintaining a GPA of 3.7.
