An Indian Air India flight passenger named Tushar Masand is accused of peeing on a fellow Japanese traveller in a startling and astonishing occurrence.
Three years or so after Air India was involved in the notorious “pee-gate” incident, in which a drunken passenger peed on a fellow traveller while on an international trip, another similar incident has occurred. This incident occurred on Air India flight AI2336, which was traveling from Delhi to Bangkok, when a passenger identified Tushar Masand was accused of peeing on a senior Japanese executive.
Who is Air India passenger Tushar Masand who urinated on Japanese Hiroshi Yoshizane, Bridgestone India MD inside flight AI2336 from Delhi to Bangkok
According to people with knowledge of the situation, the incident happened as the plane was descending into Bangkok. Hiroshi Yoshizane, the managing director of Bridgestone India, a well-known multinational in the automotive industry, has been identified as the person targeted in the incident.
Age 24 Tushar Masand was identified as the accused traveller in the Air India flight and was occupying seat 2D in the business class. At the time of the purported act, Yoshizane was seated in seat 1D, right in front of him.
Upon being alerted by Hiroshi, the senior Air India cabin crew members, Sunpreet Singh and Rishika Matre, responded with alacrity, providing towels to assist in the cleanup and relocating Masand to prevent further distress.
Hiroshi was escorted to the lavatory to change his attire, and the captain was duly informed of the situation.
As is customary in these situations, Air India immediately notified the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of the issue. The sequence of events was clarified by an internal airline report. Masand allegedly caused a disturbance in the cabin by peeing on Yoshizane after using the restroom.
After that, Masand allegedly apologized directly to Yoshizane, who declined to lodge a formal complaint even though he was obviously offended. When he landed in Bangkok, he reportedly told the cabin crew that he didn’t want to waste any more time. After the incident, a fellow business class traveler, Matthew, who was sat in 1F, voiced significant objections. He insisted that Masand be taken out of the business class area, citing concerns about comfort and safety. The cabin crew moved Masand to economy seat 14C and gave him a verbal warning in response to the growing tension.
In accordance with its revised passenger behaviour policies, which were implemented following the 2022 incident with a drunken customer on a flight from New York to Delhi, the airline acted promptly. The previous episode had caused widespread indignation and close examination of airline policies about disruptive guests.
Response from the airlines
“The crew followed all laid down procedures, and the matter has been reported to the authorities. In addition to warning the unruly passenger, our crew offered to assist an aggrieved passenger to take up a grievance with authorities in Bangkok, which was declined at the time,” the airline said.
Tushar, the passenger of the Air India flight has been put on no-fly list for a month for urinating on his co-passenger while the aircraft was on air on Wednesday, April 9.
