Nainar Nagendran has been chosen to lead the Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Following firebrand former IPS officer K Annamalai, Nainar Nagendran, a defector from the AIADMK, is expected to become the 13th president of the Tamil Nadu BJP. Since he was the only one to submit a nomination for the position, he was reportedly the sole candidate in the contest.

Next year, Tamil Nadu will hold assembly elections, and the BJP is attempting to make inroads in a state where Dravidian politics predominate. Leading the party into the elections that could determine the state’s political future would be a difficult task for Nainar Nagendran.
