Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar confesses to killing wife
On March 26, 2025, a 36-year-old Bengaluru techie named Rakesh Khedekar confessed to stabbing his wife, Gauri Anil Sambrekar. According to reports, the killing took place after a fight escalated between Rakesh and his 32-year-old wife, Gauri. Interestingly, after the murder, Rakesh spent the night next to her body, speaking to her as if she were still alive. Rakesh made the confession shortly after surrendering at a police station near Pune.
According to official reports, Rakesh placed Gouri’s body inside a trolley suitcase and committed the crime before locking it in the bathroom. The following day, he locked the house and fled towards Pune in his Honda City before calling up a tenant and claiming that Gouri committed suicide. The authorities eventually managed to track his movements and detained him before he could surrender.
Just before his arrest, Rakesh even attempted to take his own life by drinking phenyl. However, Bengaluru police found him in time and provided medical assistance.
Reason behind the murder
According to reports about the incident, the pair had an ongoing dispute over Gouri’s job situation. She was looking to make a return to Maharashtra, which led to frequent arguments. Rakesh and Gouri had recently moved to Bengaluru from Maharashtra, where he was working remotely, while Gouri had to leave her job and struggled to find suitable employment in Bengaluru. During the night of the murder, the altercation turned violent after Gauri threw a kitchen knife at Rakesh, causing a minor injury. He retaliated in a fit of rage and stabbed her multiple times in the neck, eventually killing her.
