1. Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle holds the record for the most sixes in an innings in the IPL. In 2013 in a match against the Pune Warriors India at the Chinnaswamy stadium, Gayle struck 17 mammoth sixes in an innings. In this innings, Gayle scored the fastest century in T20 cricket in just 30 balls. He scored 175 runs off which 102 runs came off the sixes alone. Gayle has also hit 11, 12, and 13 sixes in an IPL inning.
2. Brendon McCullum
In the first in IPL history in 2008, New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum scored a 158* playing for KKR against RCB. McCullum hit 13 sixes in that inning which was an unthinkable feat in 2008. McCullum lit up the stage on fire and that inning of his showed the world what to expect in the IPL.
3. AB de Villiers
Mr.360 AB de Villiers is one of the best batsmen of this generation. On May 14th in 2016 AB smoked 12 sixes in an innings against the Gujarat Lions in Bengaluru. He scored 129* runs in just 52 deliveries striking at 248.07. AB has played many great innings in the IPL and this is certainly amongst them.
4. Sanath Jayasuriya
Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya scored 11 sixes in an innings against the Chennai Super Kings in 2008 at Wankhede. Jayasuriya scored 114* runs in just 48 balls out of which 66 runs came off the sixes. Jayasuriya was known for his aggressive batting and in this innings, he showed his class.
5. Murli Vijay
Murali Vijay’s name in this list may surprise many as the Indian opener is not known for hitting those big sixes. On the 3rd of April in 2010, Vijay hit 11 sixes in an innings against the Rajasthan Royals. He scored 127 runs in 56 deliveries at a strike rate of 226.78.
