Riccardo Adami becomes Lewis Hamilton’s new race engineer

As Lewis Hamilton joins Ferrari for the 2025 season, Riccardo Adami is now serving as his new race engineer. Riccardo Adami is a seasoned Italian Formula 1 race engineer who was born on November 27, 1973, in Brescia, Italy. Adami pursued his passion for motorsports at an early age and steadily climbed the ranks in Formula 1. Riccardo is renowned for his extensive experience and previous collaborations with top-tier drivers in the sport. Riccardo Adami is currently 51 years old.

Career

Riccardo Adami started out his career with Minardi back in 2002 as a data analysis engineer. Owing to his dedication and expertise, he eventually secured a promotion to race engineer in 2005. After Minardi acquired Red Bull and rebranded it to Scuderia Toro Rosso, Adami continued his role. He worked with several drivers like Vitantonio Liuzzi, Sebastian Vettel, Sébastien Buemi, and Daniel Ricciardo.

Later in 2015, Adami left Toro Rosso and moved to Scuderia Ferrari, where he reunited with Vettel as his race engineer once again. After Vettel’s departure in 2021, he worked as the race engineer for Carlos Sainz Jr. until his departure for Williams Racing at the end of the 2024 season. Adami is currently serving as the race engineer for seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who joined the team ahead of the 2025 season.

While his salary with Ferrari isn’t known, graduate engineers can earn between £25,000 and £30,000 a year working in F1.

Meanwhile, senior engineer salaries are around £70,000 to £115,000 a year, and a chief engineer may earn upwards of £175,000.
