Police file case against PP Divya
The Kannur police have reportedly registered a case against Kannur District Panchayat President PP Divya in connection with the death of Kannur ADM Naveen Babu. According to reports, the police charged Divya of abetment of suicide, which is a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The Kannur police will reportedly submit an official report to the court, with Divya as the main accused.

Kannur ADM Naveen Babu was recently found dead at his official quarters in Kannur on Tuesday morning. According to reports, Babu took his own life after facing public humiliation and accusations of corruption by Divya during his own farewell event the day before on Monday. During the event, Divya accused Naveen Babu of corruption. She accused Babu of allegedly delaying the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NoC) to Prashanthan, who was an entrepreneur seeking to start a petrol pump in Chengalayi area in Kannur. According to reports, a group of people co-own the petrol pump, including Divya’s husband Ajith.

DCC president Martin George alleged that Prasanth, who had accused Naveen Babu of bribery, has close ties with Divya and her husband Ajith. “The controversial petrol pump is co-owned by a group that includes Ajith, which explains Divya’s repeated requests to Naveen for an NOC,” George said in an interview.
