In a tragic turn of events, the estranged husband of Bengaluru woman whose dismembered body was found in a refrigerator has alleged that the suspect involved in murdering her wife has an illicit relationship with her! Not sure of what we’re talking about? Worry not, here’s the brief:

Bengaluru Police have now identified her colleague Mukti Ranjan Roy as the suspect in the brutal murder of Mahalakshmi, who was dismembered after a dispute.

Earlier, reports surfaced indicating that the estranged husband of Mahalakshmi, Hemant Das, alleged that her late wife, whose dismembered body was found in a refrigerator in her apartment, was involved in an extramarital affair and that her lover may be connected to her murder.

What Did Hemant Das Reveal?

While conversing with the media, Das claimed that a man named Ashraf, who reportedly hails from Uttrakhand might be responsible for the crime. In addition, he also alleged that a police complaint had been filed against Ashraf at a Bengaluru Police Station, months before Mahalakshmi’s murder.

In his statement, Hemant Das can be heard saying, “I suspect Ashraf is involved. I had filed a complaint against him at the Nelamangala police station, and it was ordered that he should not enter Bengaluru.”

About Mahalakshmi & Das’ Relationship

Hemant Das had been married to Mahalakshmi for about 6 years and the couple have a daughter. However, the two had been living apart from 9 months due to ongoing domestic issue.


In his statement, Das claimed that “Ashraft who works at a barber shop, came from Uttrakhand,” while adding that he had discovered their “Affair around April or May 2023.”

He furthermore claimed that it wasn’t just his suspicion, he was “certain.” He also alleged that his wife never mentioned anything about Ashraf to him and they were not in constant contact.

Meanwhile, he also alleged that he last saw Mahalakshmi about 25-30 days before her death when she visited his mobile shop, where he works.

Reportedly, on September 22, Karnataka Police discovered Mahalakshmi’s dismembered body, reportedly cut in 50 pieces in her one-room apartment in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval area.

In an update, the Home Minister of Karnataka, G. Parameshwara commented on the case, stating that the prime suspect has been identified and will soon be apprehended.
