Who is Perth bodybuilder Giuliano Pirone as he passes away after suffering brain injury in Wanneroo gym, cause of death, bio, age and family
Under cold running water in the shower, 33 year Giuliano Pirone was discovered laying on the floor. He never recovered consciousness and passed away at Joondalup hospital despite the police’s best efforts at CPR and the subsequent medical attention. His brain function had been gone, according to an MRI, most likely as a result of extremely low blood sugar, low blood pressure, and possibly a seizure.
Giuliano Pirone, 33, suffered a brain injury and had been in an induced coma, on life support, at Joondalup hospital for two weeks and he had been working out at a 24-hour gym in Wanneroo when he felt unwell, made his way to a shower cubicle and collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday, 20 August.
Police performed CPR until an ambulance arrived and Pirone did not regain consciousness and an MRI confirmed he had lost brain function.
The family of Pirone is advocating for more frequent inspections and staffing during gym hours, among other safety precautions. They support enhanced gym check-in procedures and emergency alerts and wonder how Pirone went undiscovered for so long.
Giuliano’s mother Daniela Pirone said, “I will never look at the Sun, the Moon and the Sky the same way again, the light that shone bright has left me,”.
Rosa Ostapenko, Daniela’s daughter, suggested that the gym should have a more sophisticated check-in and check-out procedure. The CCTV footage has already been viewed by police, who will now write a report for the coroner.

AEDs are crucial in gyms
Excessive effort does raise the immediate risk of heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest, even though regular exercise strengthens the heart and reduces the risk of cardiovascular problems over time. This is particularly true for those who already have a higher-than-normal risk due to genetic or lifestyle factors.
Although cardiac issues during exercise are less common in young, healthy individuals, they can nonetheless occur. Famously fit CrossFitter Bob Harper, a celebrity trainer, experienced a “widowmaker” heart attack and went into cardiac arrest in his gym in February.
The American Heart Association reports that over 350,000 Americans experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year. Furthermore, a lot of these incidents take place as people exercise.
