Brandon Starc is an Australian high jumper who was born on November 24, 1993, in Baulkham Hills, New South Wales, Australia. He is currently 30-years-old, and trains in Sydney, Australia. Notably, Starc is the younger brother of renowned Australian cricketer Mitchell Starc and brother-in-law of Alyssa Healy, the Australian women’s cricket captain. Aside from high jump, Starc also played cricket and football, growing up, and he is also a keen photographer.

Career and achievements
Brandon Starc gained prominence after winning a silver at the inaugural 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore as a 16-year-old. He won the event with a personal best of 2.19m. He later won his first National Senior Athletics Championships title in 2012 with 2.28m. Following which he qualified as a finalist at the 2012 World Junior Athletics Championships.
Over the years, Starc has also competed in the finals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the 2015 World Athletics Championships, as well as the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Brandon won his third Australian National title in 2018, with a leap of 2.28m, before winning a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He then achieved a new personal best of 2.33m after winning a Diamond League meeting in Birmingham (GBR) in 2018.
Starc further set a third personal best for the year at 2.36m, after winning the prestigious annual Eberstadt Internationales Hochsprung. Brandon Starc then went on to win the IAAF Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium, and rounded off his 2018 European-summer campaign with a second-place jump of 2.30m.
Brandon Starc qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and finished the event in 5th place after jumping a height of 2.33m. He recently competed in the Men’s High jump at the Paris 2024 Olympics but failed to qualify for the finals.
