Coached by 9-time Olympic champion Carl Lewis at the University of Houston, Hinchliffe set a personal best of 9.95 seconds at the NCAA Championships.
About Louie Hinchliffe
Born on July 18, 2022, Louie Hinchliffe is a British sprinter. As aforesaid, he came to the limelight after he won the NCAA Championships 100 m title with a time of 9.95 seconds and also clinched the 100m title at the British Athletics Championships, in the same month.
Born to a British father, Stuart Hinchliffe, a former goalkeeper at Leyton Orient, and a Filipino mother, Leilani, Louie was a promising junior golfer with a 0.7 handicap and even declined trials at Manchester City to focus on athletics.
He was studying business and IT at Lancaster University until 2022 when he won the English Championship title, earning a scholarship in America.
Hinchliffe hails from the Sheffield suburb of Crosspool and is a member of Sheffield and Dearne Athletic Club. He attended Notre Dame High School and studied business and IT at Lancaster University.
His father Stuart is from Rotherham and his mother Leilana is from the Philippines and he has a sister who has also competed in athletics, as a hurdler. Louie Hinchliffe is of mixed ethnic roots and had a Filippino upbringing.

Career
Clocking 9.95 seconds in Eugene, Oregon, Hinchliffe recorded the 6th-fastest time in British history and the 9th quickest time this year. Two weeks prior, he ran a wind-assisted 9.84.
On his Olympics debut, Hinchliffe impressed by beating world 100m champion Noah Lyles. Hinchliffe attributes his 2024 improvement to Carl Lewis, the 9-time gold medalist and American track and field legend.
Initially earning a scholarship at the University of Washington, Hinchliffe reached out to Lewis for help. After transferring to the University of Houston, Hinchliffe became the national college champion within nine months.
