The 27 year old Norwegian swimmer who competed in the men’s 800-meter freestyle and is set to compete in the men’s 1500-meter freestyle on August 3, began reviewing food available at the village on TikTok July 25, where he gave the chocolate muffin an “11/10” and called it “insane.”
As aforesaid, Henrik Christiansen has earned the nickname of the “Olympic Muffin Man” due to his viral obsession with the chocolate muffins served in the Paris Olympic Village.

The 27-year-old has shared various videos online showcasing his love for these oversized treats, countering the belief that there’s nothing good to eat in the Olympic Village. He rates the muffins “11/10” and calls them “insane.”
Christiansen’s first muffin video left such a deep impression on the fans that he made a follow-up video the same day, using Bobby Caldwell’s 1978 song “What You Won’t Do for Love,” similar to the viral chocolate-covered strawberry TikTok trend.

He captioned the post, “The single greatest thing about the Olympic Village so far.” In another video, Christiansen and a teammate are seen in the dining hall, with the athlete declaring, “I don’t think you guys realize how good this stuff is.”

His teammate humorously accuses him of being there just for the muffins, to which Christiansen, with his mouth full and face covered in chocolate, responds confusedly, “What?”
Engaging with viewers in the comments, he humorously refers to the muffins as “heroin” and admits he “cannot stop.”
In one video, he’s shown lying in bed, face smeared with chocolate, pulling a muffin from a drawer filled with four others, captioned, “Guys, I think I have a problem.”

About Henrik Christiansen
For the curious, Born on October 9, 1996, Christiansen has a decorated swimming career, winning three medals at the 2014 European Junior Swimming Championships and a silver medal at the 2016 European Aquatics Championships in the 400-meter freestyle.
He also competed at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and turned down swimming scholarship offers from Stanford University and UC Berkeley to continue training in Norway.
In 2019, he was part of the International Swimming League, representing Team Iron, and won the 400m freestyle in London.
