Masked Olympic Torchbearerโ€™s Performance

For the unfamiliar, dressed in an outfit inspired by Arno, the iconic character from the video game Assassinโ€™s Creed Unity, the enigmatic acrobat was seen leaping through the streets of Paris and around its famous landmarks throughout the Olympic opening ceremony.

The mystery figure finally appeared through a trapdoor on stage at the Trocadero to hand the torch over to former France and Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane.

Viewers eagerly anticipated that the masked torchbearer, who had featured prominently throughout the four-hour ceremony, would be unveiled. However, everyone left disappointed as the mystery acrobat simply walked off stage after he handed over the torch to Zidane.

Identity of the Masked Olympic Torchbearer

The mystery was solved on Saturday when Simon Nogueira, a French free-running champion, revealed that he was at least one of the individuals who played the role during the opening ceremony.

Nogueira posted on Instagram: โ€œI obviously wasnโ€™t everywhere. Other incredible artists also hid in this character.โ€ He accompanied the post with stories from the rooftops of Paris but later deleted all of his posts.

Practising since the age of 13, Simon who was born in Paris captivates with vertigo-inducing videos showcasing his urban free climbing feats.

Freerunner Nogueira prefers being a trailblazer. Coming from the Paris suburbs, with the French Freerun Family, he takes part in workshops and training sessions, where he shows freerunners of the future that you donโ€™t get to the top of the discipline without training hard first.

Reports reveals that the 27-year-old, has contributed to an exhibition titled โ€œThe Path is Clearโ€ at the Galerie La Lison in Paris. The exhibition is currently running throughout the Summer Olympics and features a series of pictures taken on Parisian rooftops.

Simon Nogueira belongs to the new generation of urban sports from the Parkour or the Art of Moving and a member of the French Freerun Family (3F), Simon is the last France champion of freestyle freerunning.
