#BoycottNaturals began trending on social media Sunday morning. The reason behins this is the opinion of Naturals Salon’s CEO and co-founder. CK Kumaravel tweeted on X, formerly known as Twitter and this resulted in a controversy.

Kumaravel gave a series of responses to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements made during an election campaign in Kalyan, Maharashtra, in which he stated, “I challenge INDI alliance leaders to say five sentences on greatness of Veer Savarkar.”

CK Kumaravel wrote that Savarkar is a  “co-conspirator in Gandhi’s assassination”, “coward,” “expert in writing mercy petitions.”

Who is C. K. Kumaravel?

K. Kumaravel was born in 1965, in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, India to Hemalatha and Chinni Krishnan. His sisters are Andal Bhaskar, a gynaecologist, and Vijayalakshmi. His brothers are C.K. Ranganathan, the founder and CMD of Cavinkare, C. K. Ashok Kumar, and C. K. Rajkumar. He attended the PSG College of Arts & Sciences and pursued a degree in Nutrition Sciences.

With more than 550 locations, C. K. Kumaravel serves as the CEO and co-founder of Grooms India Salon & Spa Private Limited, the top chain of unisex salons in India. Along with his spouse Veena Kumaravel, the salon’s founder, CK co-founded Naturals Salon in 2000.

He was previously a part of the Makkal Needhi Maiam party. On behalf of Naturals Salon, Kumaravel inked an agreement with Bharatiya Mahila Bank in 2014 to provide financing to women who want to open Naturals Salons.

In the last 16 years, Naturals Salon has enabled over 300 women to launch their own businesses under his direction. The popular Homepreneur Awards, which provide a forum for honouring and celebrating women who have chosen to follow their passions through home-based entrepreneurship, are sponsored by Naturals Salon.
