Parveen Shaikh, the principal of Somaiya School in Vidyavihar was asked to resign after a news website published an article on her alleged pro-Palestine support on Twitter/X and anti-Modi views
A section of parents has rallied around Parveen Shaikh in support and urged the school management to reinstate her. They accused Shaikh of liking and commenting on pro-Palestine, pro-Hamas, anti-Hindu and anti-Modi posts on X, formerly Twitter.
“The management has, subsequent to the publication of the article in a news portal, conveyed to me that this relationship is not tenable and asked me to resign,” Shaikh said.

Parveen Shaikh who has been connected to the Somaiya School for more than 12 years, was reportedly ordered to leave when a news outlet accused her of being a Hamas supporter in a news article.
If you are a Muslim, and dissents with the regime and is pro Palestine then OpIndia decides you are not fit to be the principal of a school.

According to the investigation, Sulaiman Ahmed, “a man who regularly runs propaganda against Hindus and India” was the one whose posts she loved. According to the report, Jackson Hinkle, who the news site called a “anti-semite and fake news peddler,” had a post that Shaikh liked.
The management scheduled a meeting on April 26 to discuss the allegations made in the article, Parveen clarified after the article’s publication. The management admitted that she had put in a lot of effort and had helped to shape the Somaiya School but they claimed they were under tremendous pressure to take action against her. The management requested her resignation when the meeting came to an end.
Fatima Sheikh, along with Savitribai and Jyotirao Phule, she started the first girls’ school.

Reaction of parents
Vidya Nair, a parent of a grade 9 student praised Shaikh’s work at the school by highlighting that she is a great educator and a progressive woman. For her daughter, she serves as a model. Her leadership is something they don’t want to lose for the benefit of their kids. Vidya spoke with the management and shared her opinions.
Another parent, Shilpa Phadke mentioned that Parveen has been an exceptional educator and principal.
Phadke noted that Shaikh led the push for the gender-neutral uniform policy, which was implemented by the school.
Somaiya Trust issued a statement that read: “We were unaware of the sentiments expressed until it was brought to our notice. We do not agree with such sentiments.”
