While in police detention, one of the two guns suppliers involved in the firing case outside star Salman Khan’s home committed suicide today. According to media sources, Anuj Thapan who was detained on April 26 in Punjab went to a lavatory connected to the police lock-up around 11 a.m. and took the drastic measure.
On April 14, Anuj Thapan and another accused named Sonu Subhash Chander, reportedly gave the weapons used in the firing outside the Mumbai residence of Salman Khan. Anuj committed suicide by using pieces of bedsheets.

Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, the two who are suspected of firing the rounds, are detained by the police as well. On the night of the event, both were captured on camera riding out of the area on a motorbike.
Anuj Thapan, 32, who was arrested from Punjab on April 26, went to a toilet attached to the police lock-up at 11 am and died by suicide by hanging himself while in police custody.
Vicky Gupta (age 24) and Sagar Pal (age 21), as well as accused gunmen Sonu Kumar Chander Bishnoi (age 37) and Anuj Thapan aged 32 were all arrested previously. He was born in 1992 and died in the Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital. He had three other cases registered against him involving murder and extortion and was also connected to Lawrence Bishnoi.

All four accused are known to have some sort of relationship to the mobster Lawrence Bishnoi. Bishnoi’s primary crimes, as reported by the anti-terror organisation National Investigation Agency (NIA), include kidnapping, murder, extortion for ransom, smuggling sophisticated weapons and drugs across international borders, smuggling contraband inside the country, and smuggling illicit alcohol.
Following its announcement last month that it had gathered substantial evidence against Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi, the Mumbai Crime Branch designated both men as the case’s top suspects.
According to PK Jain who is a former senior police official from Maharashtra, each fatality that occurs in a lock-up is treated as a murder case. All the policemen in the police station will be questioned by the CID (Criminal Investigation Department).
According to the former top cop, police often make sure that lock-ups are inspected for any items that might be utilised by a suicide victim.
Anuj Thapan was accompanied by four to five police officers and he resided in the lock-up with ten other prisoners.
Salman Khan’s security was upgraded to Y-Plus in November 2022 as a result of threats to him from Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi. The actor is permitted to drive an armoured automobile and carry a handgun on his person.
